About Skopje

Skopje, the capital of N. Macedonia, is a vibrant city where ancient history meets modern life. Set along the banks of the Vardar River, it showcases a unique blend of Ottoman, Byzantine, and contemporary architecture, reflecting centuries of cultural influence and transformation.

Visitors can explore the historic Skopje Old Bazaar, one of the largest and best-preserved bazaars in the Balkans, or walk across the iconic Stone Bridge that connects the old and new parts of the city. Landmarks like the Kale Fortress offer panoramic views, while the Memorial House of Mother Teresa provides insight into the life of one of the world’s most beloved humanitarians. For nature and scenic views, Mount Vodno and the Millennium Cross are must-visit spots just outside the city center.

If you have more time and you would like to extend your stay you can visit canyon Matka and the Vrelo Cave.  Inside, Vrelo Cave reveals a stunning world of stalactites and stalagmites, with unique formations shaped over thousands of years. One of its most famous features is a large stalagmite often nicknamed the “Pine Cone” due to its distinctive shape. The cave consists of two main chambers open to visitors, while much of its full depth remains unexplored, especially the underwater sections that continue to intrigue divers and researchers.
